
Howrah Bridge ( Rabindra Setu ), was the only bridge connecting Calcutta to the other side of the river for a long time until the Vidyasagar Bridge was built. Marvelous engineering architectural structure. Used to have tram lines, but removed to reduce traffic jams. Completed in 1941. Length main span : 450 meter, length of drop in span : 172 meter, height: 82 meter.
