Very entertaining article! But I wish "modyopan" had been restricted to imbibing of the so-called "sura" of divine origin, which according to Mr. Mukherjee had no side effect save the more pleasant ones. Unfortunately, in this mundane plane of existence, the facts associated with drinking are often sad, culminating in "bou peTaano", "churi-Daakaati", hooliganism and so forth - not even mentioning the medical implications. And trust me, for someone who has worked late night shifts at the Emergency Room in a hospital, the romanticism invoked by and associated with drinking has gone straight out of the window with the first sozzled accident victim throwing up on the registration table or the ER floor, releasing the stench of bile- and acid-mixed alcohol fumes, that will haunt him or her through the rest of the life or career, and perhaps create a passionate advocate of teetotalism...
In moderation, it is pleasurable. But oh, so difficult to moderate!
